RoseSkinCo IPL Hair Removal Handset: Can I wax after using it? RoseSkinCo IPL Hair Removal Handset: Can I wax after using it?

Waxing is often an easy go-to form of hair removal with almost 7 million Americans using professional waxing services at least 4 times or more in 2020. Worryingly, what most people don’t realise is waxing wreaks havoc with every kind of laser hair removal – including IPL.

Can I wax in-between IPL hair removal treatments?

No, for any kind of laser hair removal to work your follicles must contain hair. In fact, just one waxing session can totally derail any progress you make with laser hair removal – including IPL hair removal. This is the type of hair removal our RoseSkinCo handset harnesses. It works very effectively and 70,000+ people have seen positive hair-free results. However, in saying that, you need to use it correctly. Waxing on the other hand works by removing the entire hair from the follicle leaving you with no hair. It’s also worth noting that plucking does the same thing.

Wondering what IPL means? Keep reading. Our RoseSkinCo IPL Hair Removal Handset utilises IPL hair removal technology. IPL stands for intense pulsed light, and it is a form of light therapy, similar to laser, it is used for various dermatological procedures including long term hair removal. IPL hair removal uses broad spectrum light which targets pigment in the hair and in turn kills the hair growth cells. Laser hair removal works similarly, however it only uses one intense beam of light. The end results of IPL and laser hair removal are very similar, except IPL is much more affordable

Now – backing to waxing 101. Basically, the hair is removed from the follicle, any kind of hair removal harnessing light (ie. laser or IPL) cannot work and you will not see results. This is because the handset needs to identify the pigment to locate and target the hair follicle. Waxing removes the entire hair and follicle so no pigment can be found by an IPL hair removal handset; which in turn renders the treatment useless.

In short: no waxing, plucking or epilating allowed! In order to successfully do IPL hair removal you must shave or use a hair removal cream before each treatment. The closer the shave the better, which is why we recommend using a sharp razor or our RoseSkinCo 4D Automatic Shaver for your closest most comfortable shave yet.

Does waxing after IPL hair removal increase hair growth?

No, it won’t increase hair growth but as mentioned above; it will cause damage to your next IPL hair removal treatment if you wax directly before your next treatment. Let’s say you throw caution to the wind and wax in between using your IPL hair removal handset, then you would need to wait for the hair to grow back before shaving it off and doing your next treatment.

It sounds like extra hassle and truthfully, it really is if you're an avid fan of waxing. However, like we said, you need the hair follicle intact so the handset can work its magic for hair-free results.

What can I not do after IPL hair removal?

Once you’ve completed an IPL hair removal treatment it’s natural to wonder if your normal beauty habits might sabotage all of your laser hair removal efforts. Thankfully, it’s such an easy treatment you’ll be able to go about life as normal apart from a few things below.

We highly recommend you stay out of direct sunlight – this includes sunbathing without SPF 50+ and any use of tanning beds. As you know, we also recommend you avoid waxing, plucking and epilating. Finally, if you’re considering getting a tattoo just remember you’ll never be able to do IPL (or laser) hair removal on any tattooed area.

If you are still thinking about permanent hair removal check out our IPL handset. Not only is it super easy and convenient, it works – just make sure to avoid waxing beforehand.
